Who we are
Tubester Limited (registered in Ireland, Companies Registration Office number 686648; registered office Unit G, Eastgate Village, Eastgate, Little Island, Cork, Ireland) publishes the YouTube channel Mind Rush. Contact: tubesterlabs@gmail.com.
KRAKEN
KRAKEN is our private internal research software. Only Tubester staff use it, and it is not offered to the public. This policy explains how KRAKEN handles information obtained through YouTube API Services.
YouTube API Services
KRAKEN uses YouTube API Services. Google's Privacy Policy applies to YouTube API Services: https://policies.google.com/privacy.
- What it reads: publicly available information about YouTube videos and channels, through the YouTube Data API: video and channel IDs, video titles, descriptions, channel names, publish dates, durations and public view counts, each recorded with the time it was read. It also runs a small number of YouTube searches for specific incidents we research.
- How: using an API key. It does not ask anyone to sign in with Google, does not access private YouTube account data of other people, and collects no information about YouTube viewers.
- What it is used for: finding police footage published on YouTube, identifying the agencies that hold the original recordings, and following the public view counts of recent uploads.
- What it never does: download, store or re-publish video or audio content.
Current status: calculated metrics and labels switched off
We are applying to Google to use YouTube data for analytics under the YouTube API Services Developer Policies. Until Google accepts that application, KRAKEN does not calculate views per day, ratios or rankings from YouTube data, and does not automatically categorise videos. It still matches videos to the specific incidents we research, using the facts of each case. Labels KRAKEN calculated before this was switched off are kept but are not used.
What YouTube's rules require
Under the YouTube API Services Developer Policies, data KRAKEN reads with an API key may be stored only temporarily: for no longer than 30 days, after which it must be refreshed from YouTube or deleted. View counts and other statistics may not be kept beyond 30 days unless Google allows it. Developers whose analytics use is accepted by Google may keep statistics for up to 36 months; titles, descriptions and channel names stay on the 30-day rule in any case.
Retention: where KRAKEN is today
- Reporting is active. Every 6 hours KRAKEN checks how old each item of YouTube data is and reports what is due, with the next 30-day deadline.
- Automatic refresh and deletion are not yet switched on. At the date above, KRAKEN does not yet refresh or delete YouTube data automatically, and no YouTube data has been deleted under this process.
- The first deadline: the oldest YouTube data KRAKEN holds was retrieved on 13 October 2026 and reaches 30 days on 12 November 2026.
Retention: the planned process
- Titles, descriptions and channel names will be fetched again from YouTube before they are 30 days old. Anything that cannot be refreshed (for example, a deleted or private video, or a failed request) will have its YouTube text removed before it reaches 30 days.
- Public view-count readings will be deleted after 29 days. If Google accepts our analytics application and allows a longer period for statistics, we will keep them for no more than 36 months and will update this policy first.
- Labels and calculations: KRAKEN's own notes and calculations are labelled as ours and are never presented as YouTube data.
We will update this page when automatic refresh and deletion are switched on.
Backups and internal files
- Planned: database backups, internal analysis reports, screenshots and software test files that contain YouTube data will be deleted, or have that data removed, before the data in them reaches 30 days. The first of these dates is 12 November 2026.
- Done so far: a version of our internal analysis notes without any YouTube data has been prepared to replace the originals. No backup or file has yet been deleted or cleaned, because none has yet reached 30 days.
- Content: we store no video or audio content.
Our own channel's analytics (planned, not connected)
We may connect read-only YouTube Analytics for our own channel, Mind Rush. If we do, it will use our own account's authorisation with read-only access to analytics reports for our channel only, and we will update this policy before connecting it. Access granted to an application can be withdrawn at any time in Google's security settings: https://myaccount.google.com/permissions.
Sharing
We do not sell, publish or share data obtained through YouTube API Services.
