KRAKEN
Tubester's internal research tool.
What KRAKEN is
KRAKEN is private software used only by Tubester Limited staff, for editorial research for our YouTube channel Mind Rush. It is not available to the public, and there is no sign-up.
How it uses YouTube
- What it reads: KRAKEN uses YouTube API Services to read public video information through the official YouTube Data API: titles, descriptions, channel names, publish dates and view counts.
- How long it keeps it: that information is kept no longer than YouTube's rules allow. Details are in our Privacy Policy.
- What it is used for: to find police footage and the agencies that hold the original recordings, and to understand which kinds of incident viewers are watching.
- What it never does: download or re-publish videos.
Current status
We are applying to Google to use YouTube data for analytics (the "derived metrics" provisions of the YouTube API Services Developer Policies). Until Google accepts that application, KRAKEN does not calculate views per day, ratios or rankings from YouTube data, and does not automatically categorise videos. It still matches videos to the specific incidents we research, using the facts of each case.
Terms
By using KRAKEN, users agree to be bound by the YouTube Terms of Service. See also our Terms of Use.
